The rapid expansion and growth of Japanese auto car makers Toyota, is not without its hurdles. This month, the number of cars that have been recalled by Toyota in the United States number up to 2.17 million.

This comes in the wake of complaints by car owners over accelerator pedal problems. Owners have been complaining that the accelerator pedal can be easily trapped on the floor mats or get jammed in the driver’s side carpet. The transportation department played a big role in the recalls as they carried out investigation into the matter and ordered Toyota to recall the affected vehicles.
The move will come as a relief for affected owners since such kind of a flaw could have potentially disastrous effects. This also provides Toyota with a chance to rectify this mistake and save face before the matter impacts negatively on their reputation.
The 2.17 million recalls brings to 14 million, the number of cars that Toyota has had to recall since 2009 due to flaws. Toyota will have to improve on their quality checks, as these recalls are not only denting the company’s image, but also attracting huge fines. The world’s leading auto carmaker has to look into this matter and solve it sooner rather than later.
