Woes for Toyota are piling up by the day; the company has started the year in sour note with numerous problems facing them in almost all aspects. Reports of stalling engines in over 40,000 Toyota Highlander will not be greeted well by the company’s chiefs.
Just recently, the company had to recall over one million cars due to flaws in the accelerator pedals. News that the US government has commenced investigations into the matter will surely deal the company a heavy blow. However, Toyota can breathe easy for now since there have not been any reports of injuries or accidents due to engine failure.
Owners have said that the car stalls upon reaching the 64 km per hour mark or higher speed levels. Some say that the car refuses to start once the engine stalls forcing the driver to tow the car to the nearest Toyota dealer. The US investigators seek to find out the extent, incidence and potential risks that this mater poses on the safety of the owner. The government might force Toyota to recall these cars upon completion of investigations. Toyota has said that it is ready and willing to cooperate with the government and shall accept the results of the review.
